Studies on the preparation of porous poly(styrene-divinyl benzene) microspheres and its influence factors of particle size and distribution

  • Using styrene as monomer, divinyl benzene as crosslinker and benzoyl peroxide as initiator,span80 as surfactant,monostyrene porous poly(styrene-divinyl benzene) microparticles were prepared by surfactant reverse micelle method. The main factors (surfactant dosage, stirring speed and electrolyte type) affecting the particle size and distribution of the microspheres were investigated. The results showed that the Tg of the microspheres was 170℃. With the increase of the amount of span80, the particle size of the microspheres first decreased and then increased. With the increase of the stirring speed, the particle size of the microspheres decreased.With the increase of the strength of the added electrolyte, the particle size of the microspheres decreased.
